Hi!
Tomorrow I begin my book tour - and you're coming
with me via e-mail. I leave Bellmore, New York
at 7am and, if the snowstorm has moved on, will
be flying down to Miami. That's where it all begins.
Writers love to write. But
in today's mass market, writers have to sell too.
My job for the next three weeks is to promote
my new adult novel, Virtual Terror (check it out
at www.firstpublish.com). It's a psychological
thriller for adults about people who meet on the
internet and get into some
very strange situations.
Writing is my passion. I could
give up cookie dough ice cream and even sushi
- but never writing. In fact, I've been writing
since I was eight years old. I've written for
newspapers, magazines, newsletters and just about
every form of print and online content that you
can imagine. Virtual Terror is my fourth book
- and I have two more books that will be released
by September 2001. One of the things that make
Virtual Terror so special is that it takes the
pace, style, and content of the internet and puts
it into fiction. You can read it as an e-book
or as a regular print book - another salute to
technology. And it's linked to that other part
of me - the family therapist.
A lot of people ask me about
how I write. Well, writing Virtual Terror was
just plain fun. Imagine having a cast of characters
in a world you designed, plunging into bizarre,
roller-coaster situations, and never quite knowing
where they'll end up. If it sounds strange, that's
just how I work.
When I write a novel it feels as if the characters
are telling me their story - I'm more of a scribe
than a creator. I don't know where they're going
and who will end up with whom. It's a crazy, virtual
adventure - following the voices and actions of
the people in my book.
During the next three weeks
of my book tour, I'm going to be like a character
in my own book. I'm really glad you're joining
me!
