Dr. Fink was involved from the beginning. She saw it happening - people were different in the new millennium electronic environment. Inhibitions melted away, aggression surfaced more frequently and promiscuity permeated cyberspace. Television trance was widespread and copycat behavior from the silver screen had become common. A new psychology was emerging from peoples' experiences in virtual worlds, affecting how we relate to one another both on and off-line.

In the early days, few people believed that we were changing. Way back in the eighties, computers and the internet were not part of daily life. But Dr. Fink knew it was inevitable. She coined a new term to describe what was happening: psychotechnology. Psychotechnology is about how our computers and the internet, our cell phones, pagers, DVDs, satellite TV, and high tech media affect who we are, how we think about ourselves, how we communicate with one another, and the very nature of our culture. The first psychotechnology website was posted online back in the mid-nineties. It has been revised and updated ever since, and now incorporated into this site - a living record of how we're adapting to our new world.

As a family therapist, Dr. Fink has addressed these changes directly in clinical practice as well as through her professional books, articles and appearances throughout the country. As a popular author, she speaks intimately with her readers, through fiction and nonfiction books, web content, public appearances, and articles. She is an international expert in this new age of human behavior and development.
